Long before the Methodist Church was established in Timperley the Methodist Society held its meetings in farmhouses and cottages and the first record of such meetings is recorded in1830 at a cottage in Heyes Lane. No doubt the society had been in existence before this time. Meetings continued to be held this way until 1832 when John Marsland sold a part of his land at the corner of Heyes Lane and Wash Lane (now Park Road) and the building of the first chapel in Timperley was begun and opened for worship in 1833. Weekly services were held twice a day on Sundays and fortnightly during the week. The chapel became known as Jackson's Chapel named after the large Jackson family who played an important role in the development of Methodism in the village. This building became too small for the thriving Methodist community and in 1845 at the Quarterly Meeting of the Altrincham Circuit it was resolved to rebuild or build a new Chapel in Timperley. The new Chapel was opened on Whit Sunday, 23rd May 1847 on Stockport Road. This building was subject to many alterations over the years and served the local people well until the early 1950s when again the building was found inadequate. A third church was built in 1953 on ground adjacent to the previous chapel.
